* Curtis Martin III Arrested In Connection To Homicide At Berkeley’s Aquatic Park

Oakland police arrested a man this afternoon who police say is a suspect in an early morning homicide in Berkeley’s Aquatic Park.Oakland resident Curtis Martin III, 38, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m., according to Berkeley police spokesman Andrew Frankel. Police were acting on information from Berkeley homicide investigators, who spent the morning scouring Aquatic Park after a woman’s body was found on the shoreline. A patrol officer doing a routine security check in the southern portion of the park found a woman lying on the shoreline next to a parking circle on Bolivar Drive shortly after 4 a.m., according to Frankel. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.Frankel could not immediately provide details on the woman’s age, or how she died. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.Berkeley homicide investigators examined the scene and alerted neighboring agencies to be on the lookout for a suspect, Frankel said. He could not provide additional details about Martin’s arrest because the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are still at the scene, Frankel said at 3:45 p.m. The woman’s body was found in an area with a history of illegal activities, including drugs and prostitution, Frankel said.
