*Richmond Police Identify San Rafael Man Miguel Soto-Leyva As Fatal Shooting Victim Found In Car

The Contra Costa County coroner’s office identified Miguel Soto-Leyva, a 28-year-old San Rafael resident, as the man who was found shot to death in a car in Richmond’s South Side neighborhood early this morning.Soto-Leyva died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy report.Police received a call reporting a man slumped over the steering wheel of a car in the 4200 block of Cutting Boulevard in the city’s South Side neighborhood at about 12:30 a.m. today, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said Officers arrived and found Soto-Leyva dead inside a parked car. It appeared the shooter had approached the driver’s side window and started firing, French said.Police conducted a neighborhood check and found that someone had heard shots fired shortly after midnight, but didn’t report it, French said Investigators have not turned up any leads and do not have a description of the shooter.Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Mike Rood at (510) 620-6625.
