UPDATE-ARRESTED

Authorities are investigating whether the woman who robbed a Union City bank this afternoon is responsible for other robberies in the East Bay, a police sergeant said. The woman entered the Citibank branch at 1800 Decoto Road at about 2:15 p.m., demanded money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Union City police Sgt. Bob Martin said. He said Union City police will work with other police departments to locate the suspect and determine whether she is responsible for other recent bank robberies in the East Bay, including one in Fremont. On April 21, a woman entered the HSBC Bank at 39410 Fremont Blvd. in Fremont, went to a teller window and initially asked to open a savings account. She then pulled out a black pistol from her purse, Fremont police
said. The suspect demanded money and was given cash by the teller. The suspect also demanded money from another teller before fleeing the bank on foot after being inside for only a couple minutes, according to police. The suspect in that robbery was described as a black woman who is between 30-40 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, police said. She was wearing a dark brown, shoulder-length wig with red highlights, and was wearing a black shirt, black pants, and had a medium-sized black shoulder purse and oversized black glasses. Martin only described the suspect in the Union City robbery as a black woman about 40 years old.
