A 49-year-old male transient was arrested for stabbing another man on a Petaluma bike path this morning, police said.  Officers responded to Petaluma Valley Hospital where a 27-year-old victim told them he had been walking on the bike path along Lynch Creek near North McDowell Boulevard around 5 a.m. when he was confronted by two suspects, police said. The first suspect, Byron Lee Trower, was recognized by the victim from contact years earlier. Trower allegedly demanded money and put a knife to the victim’s side, according to police. The victim then tried to grab the knife and sustained a laceration to the hand. Fearing further injury, the victim gave Trower several items and ran away, police said. The second suspect reportedly stood by while the incident occurred. Trower was located around 9 a.m. at the Town and Country Shopping Center on Petaluma Boulevard. He was taken into custody and booked into Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, police said. Any one that can help identitify the 3rd suspect in the surveillance photos or has any further information can call the Fugitive Watch hot line at 1-800-9-CAUGHT (1-800-922-8448) or text us at 408-355-0999.
