* Hillsborough Police Arrest Deisy Meraz and David Solano For Alleged Residential Burglaries

Published by Junior Staff Writer on July 1, 2009

Hillsborough police arrested two people Monday who allegedly had a modus operandi for burglarizing homes.  At around 3:15 p.m., a resident of Crystal Springs Terrace reported that a man and woman tried to enter his home through the back after
knocking on the front door. The suspects did not manage to enter the home, and drove off in a silver Toyota Scion, police said.       Officers reported locating the suspects on Woodridge Road as they were contacting another resident, and discovered burglary tools in their possession.  Police arrested 25-year-old Deisy Meraz, of South San Francisco, and 31-year-old David Solano, of San Mateo, both of whom were on probation for drug-related crimes.  Police learned that Meraz would knock on the front door of a home, and then ask the residents if they were selling puppies. If no one answered and the home appeared unoccupied, Meraz and Solano would enter through a rear window or door, police said.  Anyone who may have had any contact with Meraz or Solano is asked to contact Inspector Peter Gould of the Police Department at (650) 375-7555.
