Fairfield police are investigating the whereabouts of a man who fired a shot into a house late Thursday. At about 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of Sparrow Lane. Arriving officers were told a man knocked on the front door of the home and asked for one of the home’s male occupants to step outside, police said.  The female who answered the front door saw that the suspect had a handgun, prompting her to shut and lock the door, according to police. The suspect then fired one shot through the door before fleeing on foot. Police did not report any injuries as a result of the shooting. Police said it was not immediately clear whether the occupants of the home were targeted or if it was a random crime.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, between 18 and 20 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a moustache. He was wearing a white tank top, blue jeans and a blue beanie.
