    What is domestic violence?

    In general when people talk about domestic violence, this includes a wide range of behaviors, from verbal abuse to physical violence. Domestic violence is when one person tries to take control over another by using acts of intimidation, threats, sexual assault, stalking, controlling money or bank accounts, and other violent behaviors. It can be dangerous when one person tries to control others this way. This is what we usually mean by domestic violence, and it frequently gets worse without help. (more…)

The amount of money lost topped millions, with more losses in the online auction category alone. “Clearly, consumers need to learn how to protect themselves from crooks on the ‘Net,” said IFW Director Susan Grant.     The fundamental NRA rules for safe gun handling are:

    1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
    This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. (more…)

    False. 90% of child victims know their offender, with almost half of the offenders being a family member. Of sexual assaults against people age 12 and up, approximately 80% of the victims know the offender.

     When purchasing an artificial tree, look for the label “Fire Resistant.”

     When purchasing a live tree, check for freshness because a fresh tree is less of a fire hazard. The tree should be green, needles are hard to pull from branches and when bent between your fingers, needles do not break. The trunk butt should be sticky with resin, and when tapped on the ground, the tree should not lose many needles. (more…)
