14 Shot in Juneteenth Mass Shooting in Round Rock, Texas

Round Rock police say that two of the fourteen people shot have died.

Round Rock Police have confirmed that 14 victims were transported to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, and two were declared deceased at the scene following a shooting at Old Settlers Park during Round Rock’s annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15th.

The Round Rock Police Department is actively searching for a suspect in connection with the shooting. The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, short dreadlocks, and wearing a white hoodie at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detective Maio at 512-341-3135 or email [email protected]. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this incident.

Round Rock police are investigating a shooting incident Saturday night that left two people dead and multiple others injured during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park, located at 1371 Harrell Parkway in Round Rock.

At about 10:50 p.m., the shooting began during an altercation between two groups at the event, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said. Two people died as a result of the incident, and multiple injured bystanders were transported to area hospitals, Chief Banks said during a news briefing early Sunday morning.

The victims were not part of the altercation, Chief Banks said. Additional information about the victims is not yet available.

Chief Banks reported that police officers and members of the Round Rock Fire Department immediately responded and rendered medical aid to the victims. “I’d like to thank the police officers and the Fire Department for their quick actions,” he said. “I have no doubt that their quick actions in rendering aid to the victims saved lives.”
Those directly involved in the incident immediately fled. Police do not have any suspects in custody and are searching for suspects during this ongoing investigation.

“It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens,” he said. “My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.”

Chief Banks also thanked the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and EMS responders from Williamson and Austin-Travis counties for their support during the initial response to the incident.
