7 Shot, 4 Killed at Birthday Party Mass Shooting, Suspect Chase Garvey Dead

Police say the gunman Chase Garvey shot and killed himself while fleeing police.

The Florence Police Department reports that a lone gunman, later identified as Chase Garvey, walked into a home where a family was holding a birthday party and shot seven people, killing four of the victims.

Police report that the victims identified the shooter as Chase Garvey.

The gunman, Chase Garvey then fled the scene and was pursued by police until he shot and killed himself causing his car to crash.

Narrative:

On 7-6-2024 at 2:51 am, Florence Police Officers were dispatched to a private residence on Ridgecrest Drive after receiving multiple calls of an active shooter inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspect, (Chase Garvey) had fled the scene in a motor vehicle. Officers located seven victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Four of the victims were pronounced deceased on the scene. Three of the victims were transported to UC Hospital and are currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Officers quickly located the fleeing suspect (Chase Garvey) near Farmview Drive and US42 and initiated a traffic stop. Suspect Chase Garvey continued to flee and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit concluded on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike after the suspect vehicle left the roadway and came to a rest in the ditch. Officers found the suspect to have sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect Chase Garvey was transported to St. Elizabeth where he was pronounced deceased.

The Florence Police Department’s Investigative and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Because Chase Garvey is the only suspect, there is no ongoing threat to the public, as the Florence Police Department’s initial investigation revealed that the deceased suspect, Chase Garvey acted alone.
