Mexican police report they have arrested nine alleged drug cartel members in connection with the kidnapping and murder of five musicians of the musical band Grupo Fugitivo.
Mexican federal authorities captured Santos “N,” alias “El M-47” or “Jimmy,” the alleged leader of the Gulf Cartel and identified as one of the masterminds behind the murder of five members of Grupo Fugitivo. The arrest took place in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, as part of a coordinated operation that also resulted in the arrest of three other alleged perpetrators. This crime shocked the artistic community and the entire country due to its brutality and the fact that it claimed the lives of musicians performing their profession.
Grupo Fugitivo, known in the regional Mexican music scene, was the victim of a forced disappearance followed by murder, an act directly attributed to this criminal organization. The Attorney General’s Office and federal forces continue their investigations to fully clarify the events.
