A popular YouTuber, Grant Wills, posted a video titled “I was held hostage in an Uber.” In the short video, he alleges that his Uber driver cancelled his ride and then held him against his will until he paid him a specified amount of money in cash.
Wills also alleges that the driver drove him to a store to use an ATM to withdraw money, but Wills was unable to withdraw cash, so he paid the driver using the ZELLE app on his cell phone.
The YouTuber continued, saying that during the ordeal, he was able to call his mother on his cell phone and keep her on the phone in case of danger. He later reported the driver to Uber and said he never reported his ordeal to the police.
It is unknown if the victim ever reported his experience to the police or if he ever received a response from Uber about the driver’s status.
