Columbus police have released video showing a SWAT officer shooting wanted murder suspect Darnell Jones.
Toledo police report that Jones was wanted in connection with the murder of his 13-year-old daughter Keimani Latigue.
Police say that on March 18, 2025, Keimani Latigue was reported missing. On March 24, 2025, detectives found her deceased in an abandoned building. Police say she had been raped, her hands cut off and her throat was slit.

Officer-Involved Shooting
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 10 a.m., the Columbus Police SWAT was assisting Toledo Police with the apprehension of a suspect wanted in connection with a Toledo homicide.
Columbus Police SWAT was in the area of 2nd Avenue and Dennison Avenue when they located the suspect. During the interaction with the suspect, a SWAT officer discharged their firearm and struck the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital in stable condition at the time of this release. A firearm was recovered from the suspect. No officers were injured in the incident.
The suspect is identified as Darnell Jones (D.O.B. 6/17/91). The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) is leading the investigation.

News Release – Missing Juvenile, Keimani Latigue, Found Deceased in East Toledo
Toledo, OH (March 25, 2025): On March 18, 2025, Toledo Police officers responded to 2920 Elm St. in reference to a 13-year-old missing juvenile, Keimani Latigue.
On March 24, 2025, detectives found her deceased at 1101 Miami St.
On March 18, 2025, Toledo Police responded to 2920 Elm St. in regards to 13 year-old Keimani Latigue being reported missing. As a result, a missing persons investigation was initiated. On March 23, 2025, a warrant for Abduction was issued for Keimani’s father, Darnell Jones, age 33. Further investigation led officers to 1101 Miami St., where they found Keimani deceased.
Subsequently, a warrant for Murder was issued for Mr. Jones.
On March 25, 2025, Columbus (OH) Police Department personnel confirmed that Mr. Jones was shot by police and in their custody.
City of Toledo Code Compliance will also begin the process of demolishing the structure at 1101 Miami St.
