On the morning of Sunday, January 26, 2025, three officers from the Northeast Policing District were involved in an officer-involved shooting.
The Fresno Police Department has created a Critical Incident Video, which includes bodyworn camera footage, surveillance video footage, and 9-1-1 calls.

The investigation into this critical incident is ongoing. There will be no additional comments made beyond the release of this video.
This critical incident is being fully investigated, and the findings will be handed over to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, Internal Affairs and the Office of Independent Review.

Fresno, California — On January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Fresno Police officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress at an apartment complex near North Backer Avenue and Shaw Avenue. A 9-1-1 caller reported seeing three armed suspects breaking into an apartment. Surveillance footage showed the suspects approaching the unit—one visibly carrying a shotgun, which was later recovered.
After forcing entry into the apartment, one suspect drove an SUV onto the complex courtyard, reversing it up to the apartment’s front door. The suspects removed a safe from the residence and began loading it into the vehicle. As they attempted to flee, Fresno officers arrived on the scene.
Officer #1 encountered the SUV stopped on a walkway with two suspects outside. Despite repeated commands to surrender, the suspects re-entered the vehicle. The driver then reversed into a building before accelerating directly toward Officer #1, prompting the officer to fire his service weapon.
As the suspects fled the scene, additional officers initiated a pursuit. When the vehicle exited the parking lot, Officer #3 intentionally collided with it. He observed the driver—later identified as 37-year-old Amicho Mancia—attempting to retrieve a rifle from the vehicle. Officer #3 fired multiple rounds through the windshield of his patrol car.
Mancia fled on foot toward a nearby campus. Officer #2 exited his vehicle and, believing Mancia was still armed, discharged his weapon. Mancia continued to flee until a police K9 unit apprehended him. Officer #3’s body-worn camera activated after the collision; he fired from inside his vehicle and through the windshield. As officers moved in to detain the passenger—identified as 43-year-old Antwoine Francisco Mancia—Officer #3 recovered the assault-style rifle Amicho Mancia had attempted to grab. Antwoine Mancia was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers rendered medical aid to Amicho Mancia, who had suffered a gunshot wound and was wearing body armor with no visible bullet impacts. He was hospitalized in stable condition and later booked on charges including felony assault on a peace officer, robbery, and possession of a firearm as a felon. Antwoine Mancia, who complained of pain but had no visible injuries, was also hospitalized and subsequently booked for robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, and multiple felon-in-possession charges.
The AR-15 style rifle was recovered from the vehicle. The shotgun and a suspect’s bag were found inside the victim’s apartment. The safe, partially loaded into the SUV during the break-in, fell out as the suspects fled.
Detectives later identified the third suspect, 28-year-old Aaron Guery. He was arrested on January 29, 2025, and booked into jail for home invasion robbery.
