Marion County Sheriff’s Office Press Release Re: Fugitive Kevin Mason
WANTED: KEVIN MASON
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is reaching out to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of mistakenly released homicide suspect Kevin Mason, 28. Due to faulty records review by civilian staff, Mason was mistakenly released from the Adult Detention Center (ADC) on September 13, 2023. On September 15, 2023, two MCSO employees were terminated in relation to this incident.
Mason is a 5’9” black male weighing approximately 205 pounds with a cross tattoo under his right eye and “SUB” tattooed on his chest. He also has a neck tattoo.
Two individuals connected with Kevin Mason, Desiree Oliver and Chaznia Dawson, are currently being interviewed by MCSO officials in regards to their involvement with Mason. If you have any additional information about Oliver and Dawson, please contact MCSO.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office Press Release Update Re: Kevin Mason
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an update in the search for homicide suspect, Kevin Mason.
From our investigation, it was determined that Mason left the City of Indianapolis on the evening of Sept. 13, 2023.
Contact has been made with the law enforcement agencies of areas where Mason is believed to have connections and the investigation is now being overseen by the United States Marshals Services (USMS). The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has had full-time participation in the regional USMS task force for nearly 20 years.
“As a former U.S. Marshal, I have a personal understanding of the far-reaching tools our federal partners have,” said MCSO Sheriff Kerry J. Forestal. “With 56 regional task forces and their capture of nearly 76,000 fugitives in 2022, I am fully confident they will locate Kevin Mason and bring him into custody.”
The Sheriff’s Office will continue to participate with the USMS. It is directed that anyone with further tips on the whereabouts of Kevin Mason refer to the USMS Wanted bulletin.
