Leonard Cure Shot and Killed by Camden County Sheriff’s Deputy

Leonard Cure had been previously exonerated after serving 16 years in prison.

Video shows deadly encounter between Camden County Sheriff’s Office deputy and Leonard Cure.

Authorities said that a Black man, Leonard Cure, who spent more than 16 years imprisoned in Florida on a wrongful conviction, was fatally shot Monday by a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia during a traffic stop. On Wednesday afternoon, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office released graphic videos of the encounter on its YouTube page.

Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor, along with Keith Higgins, District Attorney for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, and Agents from The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, have released the patrol car and body camera videos from the October 16th Deputy Involved Shooting which occurred on Interstate 95.

The videos show that law enforcement is transparent regarding the actions that occurred Monday morning, including the dash camera video of the truck speeding more than 100 mph and being operated in a Reckless Manner.

Also, the body camera video that the Deputy was wearing reveals the confrontation and use of force. The following links provide access to the videos.
