The Broward Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video Tuesday that shows a non-fatal triple shooting that occurred last week in Pompano Beach.

Wild new video shows a Pompano Beach shootout in broad daylight that left three people including an innocent bystander hospitalized last week.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said the victim told them he was walking in the area when he was approached by several people and a verbal altercation ensued. The victim said as he was walking away, three of the people lifted their waistbands and showed off their guns, so that’s when he pulled out his gun and opened fire in self-defense and the other subjects return fire.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit are releasing surveillance video of a non-fatal triple shooting that occurred in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Investigators are seeking the public’s help to positively identify all the individuals involved.

The shooting occurred at approximately 4 p.m. that afternoon near the 1700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The victim told investigators several individuals approached him as he was walking in the area and that during the encounter, a verbal altercation took place.

According to the victim, when he began to walk away, three of the unknown individuals lifted their waistbands and revealed their guns. That’s when the victim says he pulled out his gun and fired in self-defense as the subjects fired back.

Surveillance video of the incident shows the victim walking on the sidewalk when five subjects approached him. Moments later, gunfire erupts, and the subjects are seen fleeing the area.

Detectives say three people were shot during the ordeal, the victim, an innocent bystander shopping at the store and another male subject. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the shopper to an area hospital for treatment. The other two who were wounded arrived at the hospital on their own. All three suffered injuries listed as not life-threatening.
