LAPD Cruising Crackdown in Van Nuys Despite Repeal of Ban on Cruising Laws

Cruising crackdown in Van Nuys by LAPD.

Los Angeles police were out in force on Van Nuys Blvd. in a “Cruising Crackdown” in response to an un-sanctioned cruising event being publicized on social media.

While new legislation, California Assembly Bill 436, has recently altered the state’s approach to anti-cruising ordinances, LAPD reminds the public that all vehicle code violations and Los Angeles Municipal Codes still apply.

Although the modified law prohibits the enforcement of cruising ordinances and penalizing modified vehicles, LAPD Van Nuys Division, with additional resources, will be conducting a zero-tolerance cruising crackdown enforcement operation for moving violations, parking violations, and LAMC violations during the event.
