U.S. Army machine guns and rocket launchers are falling into the hands of drug traffickers: why?

According to the Mexican Ministry of Defense, since 2018, some 221 automatic machine guns, 56 grenade launchers and a dozen rocket launchers that belonged to the United States Army have been found in the possession of drug traffickers. According to experts, these types of weapons end up in commercial stores when the models are updated and that is when the cartels take the opportunity to buy them and put them into circulation.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry reports that 70% of the firearms seized from drug cartels come from the U.S.
