Lakeland police on a manhunt for Kevarius Green and Demarius Wilson. Police say they allegedly shot and killed two people, including a 3-year-old baby.
Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor provided an update on the shooting incident that occurred on March 11 in the vicinity of 1850 Cambridge Cove Circle in Lakeland during a media briefing on Thursday. Chief Taylor stated that the suspect vehicle involved was a Dodge Challenger, which had three individuals inside.
Identified as the suspect who fired a rifle during the incident and caused the deaths of 3-year-old Jaquez Norton and Kemarius Wilson, was Kevarius Green, aged 30, from Lakeland. Additionally, Taylor mentioned that Demarius Wilson, aged 22, the brother of the deceased suspect Kemarius Wilson, was also linked to the incident.
Taylor informed that there was an adult male victim who sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting and is currently hospitalized. Demarius Wilson was identified as being present in the Challenger both before and after the homicide, and he was responsible for attempting to conceal the vehicle.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Kevarius Green on charges including two counts of first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and attempted first-degree murder. Furthermore, Taylor added that an arrest warrant has also been issued for Demarius Wilson for charges related to tampering with evidence.
The Lakeland Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance in locating the two suspects, emphasizing that they are considered armed and dangerous and have affiliations with the Lakeland, Plant City, and Orlando areas, according to an LPD media release.
