The brother of a pregnant woman found dead last week in a Lakeville home has been charged with her murder.
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged 23-year-old Jack Joseph Ball, of Farmington, with two counts of second-degree murder.
According to the charging documents, police received a call around 11 p.m. on Thursday from a woman who believed her daughter had been killed. When officers arrived at the home on Encina Path, near Pilot Knob Road and 170th Street West on the Lakeville-Farmington border, they found a large pool of blood in the kitchen along with bloody knives and tools.
The 911 caller said her daughter, 30-year-old Bethany Ann Israel, had gone to dinner with her brother, Ball, earlier that evening. She became concerned after not hearing from Israel and drove to the home, where she saw Ball quickly leaving and then discovered blood upon entering.
During their search, officers found body parts. More were discovered when another person called 911, reporting that a man had placed what appeared to be a body part on their front step in Rosemount. Ball was found nearby, covered in blood and near several other body parts, according to court documents.
Police later learned that Israel was between 17 and 18 weeks pregnant with her first child.
