As of now, we believe suspect, Joshua James Zimmerman, has left the immediate area. The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office will not stop searching for Zimmerman. He will be apprehended. Please share this post and if you come into contact with Zimmerman, do not approach him. Please call authorities immediately. This is an ongoing investigation, and we will update the public and news media of any developments. Thank you.

Joshua James Zimmerman, an inmate at the Desoto County Adult Detention Center, is currently a fugitive from justice. Zimmerman escaped from the DeSoto County courthouse, where he was scheduled for a hearing. He was arrested and charged by the Southaven Police Department with multiple felonies, including attempted murder.
Our Fugitive Apprehension Team is actively searching for Mr. Zimmerman, and I am confident we will apprehend him. We will be waiting for him at the Adult Detention Center.
Anyone found aiding Mr. Zimmerman will be charged with a felony.
If you have any information regarding Mr. Zimmerman’s whereabouts, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
Zimmerman has a beard in his most recent photo. Also attached is a photo of him without a beard. He was last seen wearing a khaki doo rag, khaki pants, white t-shirt, and jail issued flip flops with socks. If you see Zimmerman, do not approach him. Call authorities immediately.
