Miguel Narro and Luis Lopez have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a Las Vegas store security guard over stolen groceries, according to an arrest report.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested 36-year-old Miguel Narro for the July 20 shooting outside El Marketon at Decatur Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
The arrest report states that the guard confronted an individual in the parking lot for taking several grocery items without paying. During this confrontation, a second person exited a car and pointed a gun at the guard. The guard deployed pepper spray, and the gunman responded by firing multiple rounds, according to LVMPD.
One bullet struck the guard “in the area of his chin and likely lodging in his neck,” the report states. The guard was last reported to be in critical condition, and doctors were uncertain if he would survive.
Witnesses provided a partial license plate number, which police used to identify a suspect vehicle, a 2016 Nissan Sentra. The car’s registered owners informed police that their son, Narro, had the car, and their description of Narro matched that of the shooter, according to LVMPD.
The next day, officers checking on a person under house arrest spotted two men in a backyard. One identified himself as Narro, and officers learned there was an active warrant for his arrest, leading to his detention.
Police identified the other man as Luis Lopez, who matched the description of the person who walked out of El Marketon with the stolen items.
Officers also discovered a 2016 Nissan Sentra parked in the house’s garage. Inside the car, they found a handgun and a license plate in a bag. They also detected what appeared to be dry pepper spray while processing the car for fingerprints.
In an interview with detectives, Narro stated he had spent July 20 looking for his car but declined to provide further details.
Narro was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, and robbery with a deadly weapon. Jail records indicate he is being held without bail, with his next court hearing scheduled for Wednesday, July 31.
