Video shows 2 toddlers in diapers on Texas freeway after being ejected during crash.
A father could end up in jail after authorities said his two kids were not restrained and were sent flying out during a crash on a Texas freeway.
Two young children remain hospitalized after being ejected from a vehicle during a major crash on the I-10 East Freeway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred on Sunday when the children, ages 1 and 4, were riding in a Jeep driven by their father. The Jeep collided with another vehicle, causing it to flip and throwing the children from the car.
Video captured in the aftermath shows the children, clad only in diapers, sitting on the freeway as their father and another man rushed to them.
Victor Cordova, who witnessed the crash while driving home, initially feared the worst. “I thought they were dead,” he told KTRK-TV in Houston, relieved to see the children moving afterward. Incredibly, neither was hit by other vehicles.
The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident, but the children’s 25-year-old father could face criminal charges for failing to properly restrain them.
Cordova, who is also a father, shared the video he recorded to raise awareness for other parents. “Even if it’s a short distance, make sure you secure your kids properly,” he urged.
