Law Enforcement Actively Searching for Escaped Prisoner

Around noon on Thursday, September 12th, 17-year-old Isaac Cardenas (pictured) escaped while in the custody of the Fresno County Probation Department.

Earlier, Cardenas was in the process of being booked into the Juvenile Justice Campus (JJC) on a violation, but he did not medically clear the booking process. Further evaluation was needed, so he was transported to Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in downtown Fresno. Once at the hospital, Cardenas was able flee the vehicle and avoid being captured by officers.

The Fresno County Probation Department immediately notified local law enforcement of the escape. Probation and other law enforcement agencies began search operation efforts to capture Cardenas. The safety of the community remains the highest priority and all available resources are being utilized to ensure a swift resolution to this incident.

Chief Probation Officer Kirk Haynes stated, ” We are taking this matter very seriously and are working diligently with our law enforcement partners to apprehend the individual. We are also conducting a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the escape to prevent future occurrences.”

Isaac Cardenas is described as 5’9″, 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, beige sweatpants and black Jordan shoes.
