Oceanside, CA — On September 26, 2024, at approximately 1:43 a.m., officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to an emergency radio call regarding a plane that had made an unexpected landing on State Route 76 near Canyon Drive. The aircraft had landed on the roadway without any reported injuries to the occupants or any individuals on the ground. The pilot, who was unharmed, reported engine failure as the reason for the emergency landing.

Upon further investigation, both occupants of the aircraft were contacted by authorities. A search of the plane was conducted, during which a large quantity of narcotics was discovered. Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody for illegal transportation of narcotics. Both occupants are Oceanside residents.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and is actively conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.

The two suspects arrested in this incident, have been identified as, 21-year-old, Gabriel Leon Breit and 36-year-old Troy Othneil Smith, both from Oceanside, CA.
