Six individuals, including two juveniles, were arrested in connection with a flash mob robbery at the Westfield Topanga mall, which was captured on video.
The robbery occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday and was the second smash-and-grab incident at the Canoga Park mall within two weeks, according to Los Angeles police.
Footage shows thieves grabbing designer handbags and clothing from at least one store. Police reported that 12 suspects stormed two stores that day, stealing over $90,000 worth of merchandise.
“The suspects, wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts, overwhelmed security and knocked over multiple display shelves,” the police said in a statement on Sunday.
That evening, officers located one of the vehicles involved and identified all five occupants as having participated in the robbery.
The following suspects were arrested and charged with robbery:
Joshua Jones, 22, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $1,085,000
Amaya McDonald, 19, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $150,000
Justin Jones, 18, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $150,000
The other two suspects, both juveniles, were not identified by police.
Later that night, Huntington Beach police officers discovered a second vehicle involved in the robbery, driven by 26-year-old Rajene Robinson. Stolen merchandise was found in the vehicle, and Robinson was arrested and booked into jail without bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
