San Jose Police Department Press Release Re: Wanted Suspect Alexis Orozco
On July 24, 2024, at approximately 8:24 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a strong-armed robbery that occurred in the 2200 block of Eastridge Loop. Two unknown male suspects approached the juvenile male victim, pushed him and ripped off his gold necklace. During the incident, the suspects produced gang signs and shouted gang slurs. The suspects fled the scene before police arrival.
The SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) began a thorough investigation and discovered that a group of suspects associated to a Gilroy-based gang were responsible for a string of strong-armed robberies that spanned between July through August 2024, including the July 24th incident. In some of the incidents, the suspects brandished weapons, including firearms and knives. The suspects initially targeted rival gang members, then quickly branched out to target other victims of opportunity in the city of San José.
GIU Detectives identified five suspects associated with at least five strong-armed robberies: Dominic Vaca, Timothy Zambrano, Matthew Flores, a juvenile male suspect, and Alexis Orozco, who is currently outstanding.
With the assistance of the Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, SJPD GIU Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the suspects and search warrants for their associated residences.
With the assistance of SJPD’s Covert Response Unit (CRU) and GPD ACT, SJPD Detectives made arrests and served search warrants in Gilroy. Suspect Vaca was arrested on August 16, 2024, the juvenile male suspect was arrested on August 31, 2024, suspect Flores was arrested on September 15, 2024, and suspect Zambrano was arrested on October 3, 2024. Suspects Vaca, Flores and Zambrano were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for strong-armed robbery.
The juvenile suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
