The Mesquite Police Department has released videos of an officer shooting Edward Williams during a chase after hearing gunfire.
Police say that officers heard gunfire and thought that an unknown gunman was possibly shooting at them. The officers then began pursuing a suspect vehicle.
After a short vehicle pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed and four suspects fled on foot.
An officer running after suspect Williams said he thought he allegedly saw Williams reaching for a gun and shot Williams.
Williams was treated at a hospital and booked into jail.
Police also allege that they recovered guns from where Williams fell and the scene of the suspect car crash.
