Graphic allegations of a sexual assault on a female correctional officer by an inmate are shedding light on possible red flags with California’s prison system.

Inmate Robert Lawrence Ransom Jr. is serving a 83 years to life prison sentence after he was convicted of murdering two women and attempting to murder a third in Los Angeles.

He was originally classified as a dangerous inmate and housed in a high security prison.

For unknown reasons, Ransom was transferred to the lower security prison and Jackson says that prison guards were not warned about the danger he posed.

Victim Officer Katie Jackson says Ransom allegedly disguised himself as a guard to gain entrance into her control booth.

Once inside, Ransom allegedly disarmed her, strangled her, held her hostage for hours and raped her twice.

A CDC investigation revealed that other guards had mistakenly counted Ransom as being in his cell and failed to find him hiding in a laundry cart during a search of the cart.
