The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office charged Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin with first-degree murder.

An Otero County Sheriff’s Office deputy is now facing a first-degree murder charge after fatally shooting a Mescalero Apache teenager last summer. Body camera video showed Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin shooting 17-year-old Elijah Hadley less than thirty seconds after seeing him along the side of the road.
