Prosecuting Attorney Rules That Deputies and Police Justified in Killing of Jeremiah Gaver

Ada County sheriff's deputies and a Boise police officer shot and killed Gaver after he stabbed two sheriff K9 dogs and then turn his knife toward the officers.

The Owyhee County Prosecuting Attorney found the actions of the deputies and officers who shot and killed Jeremiah Gaver in early 2024 were justified.

Ada County sheriff’s deputies and a Boise police officer shot and killed Gaver after he stabbed two sheriff K9 dogs and then turned his knife toward the officers.

Deputies say they tried to stop Garver late at night because he was looking over backyard fences.

Garver refused to comply with deputies’ repeated commands and ran away.

Deputies tried using less-lethal weapons and K9 dogs to stop him, but he stabbed the dogs multiple times and then turned the knife toward the officers.
