“She will truly be missed, very missed by everybody. It’s a loss for everyone,” said Savannah Costales, a close friend of the victim.

Family, friends, and teammates gathered at the field where Officer Bianca Quintana, who loved playing softball, once played. Her uncle, Armando Valdez Borja, spoke to her character, saying, “Whoever knows her knows she was a kind woman, a good daughter, a good wife. Her kids, like everyone else, are going to miss her deeply.”

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Quintana was off-duty and walking when she was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene. The incident occurred near Coors Boulevard and Chapulin Road in the South Valley just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Outside of her duties as a police officer, Quintana was a passionate softball player, continuing to play as an adult.

“We’re going to miss her. We are a softball family, and we have her back, her children’s back, and her family’s back,” said Patricia Garcia, a family friend.

Quintana began her law enforcement career with the Los Lunas Police Department in 2020 before joining the Albuquerque Police Department in 2022. “She’s a legend in my eyes, and she left a legacy that will live on forever,” said her sister, Maricruz Dominguez.

Her family is pleading for the driver involved in the crash to turn themselves in. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and is asking for the public’s assistance, encouraging witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
