Suspect wounded in police shooting in Pomona.
A car crash in Pomona Sunday night ended with gunfire, wounding a suspect.
A crash at a Pomona intersection ended with a heavy barrage of police gunfire, wounding one person on Sunday evening, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 600 block of West Holt Avenue, as stated in a news release from the Pomona Police Department.
While it is unclear if officers were pursuing the suspect at the time of the crash, cellphone video captured police firing at a person who, according to officers, pointed a firearm at them.
The wounded suspect was seen raising a hand out of the car window before exiting the vehicle and lying among the wreckage and shattered glass in the street. Officers, with guns drawn, then moved forward and took the individual into custody.
The suspect was transported to the hospital in stable condition. A firearm was recovered at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid the area while investigators canvass the scene for evidence.
No information regarding the age or gender of the suspect has been provided.
The investigation into the police shooting will be conducted by investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
