Child shot in back during drive-by shooting in SW Houston.
A 7-year-old boy was wounded in the back during a drive-by shooting in southwest Houston.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner stated that the boy was undergoing surgery.
Surveillance footage obtained by news media from neighbors captured a blue truck, possibly carrying ladders in its bed, speeding down Langdon Street.
Following closely behind was a gray sedan. Shortly after the vehicles disappeared from the frame, gunshots rang out.
Detectives suspect that the gunfire originated from the sedan, though it remains unclear if anyone in the blue truck retaliated.
According to Sergeant David Solis of the Houston Police Department, authorities are still piecing together a possible motive for the apparently random act of violence. “Again, we don’t know if they were in a road rage,” Solis remarked.
“We don’t know if there was some kind of altercation.” Local residents noted that the area is unfortunately accustomed to gunfire.
HPD’s crime map indicated that there have been 25 other aggravated assaults in the past month within a mile radius of the apartment complex.
