The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking Cory Tyler after he allegedly escaped from the Fernley Substation.
Tyler was originally arrested on a Nevada Parole and Probation warrant and was being held at the substation pending transfer to the Lyon County Jail when he managed to escape custody.

On September 29, 2023, at approximately 1354 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the 200 block of Granada Street in Fernley, Nevada where they located and arrested 30 year old Cory Tyler on a Nevada Parole and Probation warrant. Tyler was transported to the Fernley Substation for temporary housing, prior to being booked into the Lyon County Jail. While at the substation, Tyler’s handcuffs were removed and he was placed in a holding cell.
The transporting deputy failed to properly secure the cell and Tyler fled when the deputy left the area. Tyler fled the area of the substation toward the southeast on foot and his current location is unknown.
Tyler is currently wanted for the Nevada Parole and Probation warrant in addition to a violation of NRS 202.090 Penalties for Prisoner Who Escapes, a category B felony.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office does not have information suggesting Cory Tyler is armed at this time, but we urge the public to exercise extreme caution and to contact your local law enforcement agency if you see him.
Furthermore, the Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public, aiding or assisting Cory Tyler, in anyway, is a violation of Nevada Revised Statute and is punishable as a category B felony.
