The Dallas Police Department reported a shooting incident that occurred after four individuals in a stolen truck rammed a police car while attempting to escape officers who had surrounded them in a parking lot.

The incident began when a license plate reader flagged a stolen pickup truck. Undercover officers confirmed the truck’s location, and officers in marked units then surrounded the vehicle. As officers moved into position, the pickup driver accelerated out of a parking space and drove onto the hood of a police car.

Surveillance footage showed four individuals exiting the disabled truck and scattering. During the ensuing chaotic foot chase, police said an armed 17-year-old, identified as Eric Lampkin-Scarborough, was carrying a handgun modified with an extended magazine and a switch. He was shot twice by an officer. According to Police Chief Garcia, Lampkin-Scarborough received first aid from officers and was in stable condition on Monday.

Two other individuals were taken into custody on Thursday, while a fourth suspect, believed to be armed, escaped and remains at large. The identity of the fourth suspect has not been confirmed by police.

Among those apprehended was 19-year-old Deantae Moore, who was taken into custody on outstanding capital murder warrants related to the killings of two 18-year-old men at a Dallas convenience store in March. The third person taken into custody was identified as 21-year-old Damon Price, who was also hospitalized after complaining of chest pain.

In addition to Moore’s capital murder charges, police stated that the other men faced several charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, evading detention on foot, aggravated assault of a public servant, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
