Fresno Police Department Press Release Re: Domonique Jones Arrest
Homicide Suspect Arrested
The Fresno Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Domonique Jones for the April 14th murder of Gilberto Gutierrez.
On April 14, 2024, at 1:51 a.m., officers from the Northwest Policing District responded to Ewell’s Bar at Shaw Avenue and Marks Avenue for a report of a gunshot victim. Officers arrived and found 38-year-old Gilberto Gutierrez in front of the bar, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers and EMS performed life-saving measures at the scene, and he was transported to CRMC. Gutierrez died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Homicide detectives initiated their investigation and learned that the victim was trying to defuse a verbal altercation outside the bar between his friend and another group. The incident turned into a physical fight when 26-year-old Domonique Jones armed herself with a handgun and fatally shot Gutierrez. Jones was arrested today and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of murder.
