SPCA Monterey County said that they are looking for any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of a person responsible for leaving several wounds on a dog called “Hastings” found in Gonzales last week.
SPCA Monterey County Press Release
Do you recognize this dog? He was found this week in Gonzales with a thick, heavy chain wrapped tightly around his neck, cutting deeply into his skin. A Good Samaritan found the three-year-old pit bull and brought him to us for emergency care.
SPCA veterinarians performed emergency surgery to clean, treat, and suture his infected wounds. The chain left gaping wounds ranging from 3 to 5 centimeters wide. He also has ears cropped almost all the way to his skull, which appears to be done not under the care of a veterinarian. In addition, he was emaciated, approximately 13-18 pounds underweight, and has pressure sores on his legs. He was also very dirty and covered in fleas. But thankfully, he is safe, warm, and loved now.
We are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this neglect. If you recognize him, please report at www.spcamc.org. All reports are confidential. To help pets like this dog, who we are calling Hastings, please visit www.spcamc.org/donate. Thank you!
