BAY CITY, MICH. – On December 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from the Bay City Department of Public Safety responded to the 1100 block of N Jackson St, on the East side of Bay City, for a subject who was out on bond and wanted for violating the protective conditions of his bond. The wanted subject was a 23-year-old male with an extensive criminal record, including assaults on police. He was seated in a vehicle with his one-year-old child.

Officers told him he was under arrest for violating his bond conditions, but he refused to get out of the vehicle.

After numerous commands for him to get out of the vehicle, officers broke a window of the vehicle to attempt to take the subject into custody. The subject then drove the vehicle into one of the police cars, pushing it approximately 10 feet. Additional windows of the vehicle were broken out and an officer deployed a Taser as they continued attempting to place the subject under arrest. The individual continued to resist and began holding his one-year-old son, using him as a human shield to prevent his arrest. Officers were eventually able to remove him from the vehicle and separate him from the child. The subject produced a knife, cutting/stabbing two of the officers as they placed him under arrest. Both officers were treated and released at McLaren Bay Region Hospital.

The subject was taken to jail and reports will be forwarded to the Bay County Prosecutor’s Office requesting multiple felony charges. The one-year-old child was turned over to his mother and was not harmed.
