Houston Police Release Videos of Officers in Shootout with John Dyneu Taylor

The Houston Police Department has released videos from officers’ body cameras from officers involved in a shootout with suspect John Dyneu Taylor.

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for firing shots at a Houston police officer at 855 Greens Road about 8:55 a.m. on Saturday (March 8). The suspect, John Dyneu Taylor, 45, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and aggravated assault of a family member in the 337th State District Court.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 855 Greens Road

March 10, 2025 – Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for firing shots at a Houston police officer at 855 Greens Road about 8:55 a.m. on Saturday (March 8).

The suspect, John Dyneu Taylor, 45, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and aggravated assault of a family member in the 337th State District Court. A booking photo of Taylor is attached to this news release.

One officer, E. Beye, discharged his duty weapon in the incident. Officer Beye was sworn in as an officer in January 2023 and is assigned to the North Belt Patrol Division.

No officers or citizens were injured.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives M. Childs and V. Lewis reported:

An officer was dispatched to a family disturbance call at the apartment complex at the above address regarding a male who assaulted his wife with a metal pipe and then refused to let her inside their apartment. The officer arrived and attempted to speak with the suspect and obtain his statement. The suspect went inside his apartment and closed the door. The suspect returned onto the balcony with a rifle and fired shots at the officer, who returned fire. The suspect retreated into the apartment as other officers arrived to the scene.

The suspect, identified as Taylor, eventually exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. The facts of the incident were presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges were filed against Taylor. He was transported and booked into the Harris County Jail.
