The FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force collaborated with the El Paso Police Gang Unit, County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division, and Border Patrol to apprehend La Chely. She is accused of orchestrating a drug trafficking network for the Artistas Asesino gang.

According to a news release from the FBI El Paso Office on Friday, Pineda was notorious for her extreme brutality, which included dismembering bodies, extracting hearts, and placing the hearts in front of “Santa Muerte” altars and statues.

FBI officials disclosed that La Chely had entered the U.S. illegally. Following her capture, agents transported her to a port of entry and handed her over to the custody of the Chihuahua State Police and the State Attorney General of Chihuahua.

“Today’s deportation underscores the swift response of our agents and the importance of our collaborative partnerships in removing a violent assailant from our streets and delivering her to Mexican law enforcement for trial,” stated John Morales, FBI El Paso Special Agent in Charge. “Close cooperation with our partners in law enforcement, the private sector, and international law enforcement agencies is crucial to preventing individuals like Pineda from perpetuating violence and drug trafficking in our communities.”
