A Chicago Landmark Diamond Center jewelry store employee shot an alleged robber during a robbery in progress and it was all caught on camera.
A robbery attempt at a Downtown Chicago jewelry store took a dramatic turn when an offender was shot by a jewelry store employee Concealed-Carry License (CCL) holder on Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded shortly before 11 a.m. in the 0-100 block of North Wabash Avenue in the Loop, according to Chicago police.
The offender entered a business at that location and tried to take property, but their efforts were thwarted. A bystander, equipped with both a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card and a Concealed-Carry License, drew their firearm and fired at the offender.
Following the shooting, the attempted robbery suspect fled the scene. However, law enforcement swiftly located and apprehended them nearby. The offender sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, initially listed in stable condition, as reported by police.
Authorities cordoned off the area, including the vicinity of the Chicago Landmark Diamond Center jewelry store, as part of their investigation.
Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the attempted robbery or subsequent shooting. At the time of reporting, no additional details were readily available.
Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the incident, with pending charges expected to be filed as the investigation progresses.
