Mexico City Police acting on intelligence were on a stake out in the customs zone near the Mexico City International Airport when they attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle.
The vehicle began fleeing and ran over a female police officer, injuring her.
The pursuit ended at with a shootout at the entrance to Terminal #1 at the airport.
One officer was shot three times and is listed in stable condition and at least one suspect was taken into custody.
No airline passengers or airport visitors or staff were injured.
