Wichita Police Department Press Release Re: Eric Gonzalez-Gutierrez

The Wichita Police Department is seeking assistance from the community in locating Eric Gonzalez-Gutierrez, who is wanted for violating his pre-trial restrictions.

Eric was initially arrested on June 16th for charges including first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm and was later released on bond.

On June 21st he cut his ankle monitor, violating his pre-trial restrictions.

Police report that Eric Gonzalez-Gutierrez secured his release by posting two percent of his $1 million bond through Second Chance Bond Company, significantly lower than the industry standard of ten percent.

Authorities have long been battling the practice of bond companies permitting bonds lower than the standard ten percent. Recently, lawmakers passed a bill mandating that all murder suspects must post ten percent of their bond, but this law will not take effect until July 1.

If you have any information on Eric’s whereabouts, please call 911 or WPD Detectives at 316-268-4407. To provide anonymous tips, use Crime Stoppers by scanning the QR Code or calling 316-267-2111.
