CHP – Solano Press Release Re: Murder Suspect Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy Arrest
CHP APPREHENDS WANTED MURDER SUSPECT
FAIRFIELD, Calif. – The search for a wanted murder suspect came to an end on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2024. Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy, 27, of Vallejo, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) after more than three years on the run.
On November 15, at approximately 2:45 p.m., an officer assigned to the Solano Area office was on patrol when he observed the driver of a silver Toyota Camry not wearing his seatbelt. The officer initiated an enforcement stop and contacted the driver. The driver failed to produce identification and provided the officer with a false name, date of birth, and license. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to identify the driver, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to the scene with a fingerprint reader. The driver was positively identified as Lacy, and it was discovered that there was a $1.5 million warrant for his arrest in connection with a murder that occurred in Merced, Calif., in October 2021. Lacy was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail.
“Our officers’ vigilance and quick action turned a routine enforcement stop into the arrest of a murder suspect,” said Captain Noah Hawkins. “This is a powerful example of how proactive policing keeps our communities safe.”
The warrant for Lacy’s arrest was issued after his involvement in the murder of 33-year-old Christina Velez. Velez was killed, and a second person suffered major injuries after a robbery and shootout on East Main Street. Officers later arrested 20-year-old Travis Rucks at a gas station in San Pablo, Calif., after he provided a false name.
Rucks and Lacy, 24 at the time, fled the scene after the shooting to evade capture. A third suspect, 22-year-old Emari Lee Prescott, was injured during the shootout and arrested after seeking treatment at a local hospital. Lacy remained on the run as the last known suspect in the murder case.
We would like to thank its partners at the SCSO for assisting with the arrest of this violent and dangerous criminal. CHP officers remain dedicated to ensuring all motorists can travel safely throughout the State without the threat of injury or harm.
