At the request of 20th Judicial District Attorney General Glenn Funk, TBI special agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday morning in Nashville.
The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on the Division Street Bridge. Preliminary information indicates officers encountered Tadarius Hunt (DOB 7/7/1995), who was wanted in connection to a weekend shooting investigation. When officers made contact, Hunt fired several shots grazing one of the officers in the leg. At least two officers returned fire, striking Hunt, who subsequently died. The officer who was grazed by a bullet was treated at a local hospital and released.
At this time, this investigation remains active and ongoing. TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.
Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the district attorney general for his further review and consideration. The TBI acts solely as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether an officer was justified in these matters. That decision rests with the district attorney general requesting TBI’s Involvement.
