Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred in the 1000 block of 16th Street.
On April 17, 2024, the Sacramento Police Department was in Oakland conducting a homicide investigation. Just before 9:30 p.m., Sacramento Police officers notified OPD of their investigation and requested assistance in arresting the homicide suspect.
Oakland Police officers arrived on the scene. As they began securing the area and requesting additional resources, the suspect emerged from the residence with a firearm.
OPD officers discharged their service weapons, fatally striking the suspect. Officers provided first aid until the medical personnel arrived. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were physically injured.
In accordance with OPD policy, the officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
This officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Internal Affairs Division, and the Oakland Community Police Review Agency.
The Oakland Police Department remains committed to transparency. However, to ensure the integrity of the investigation, the release of information must be limited at this time. Additional details will be shared as soon as the investigative process allows and in compliance with the law.

Sacramento Police Department Urgently Seeks Community Assistance in Locating Wanted Murder Suspect
The Sacramento Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in locating a wanted murder suspect. The suspect, Dominique Broadt, is wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on March 3, 2024 in the 6100 Block of Ventura Street. Broadt is described as a 32-year-old male, 6’2’’, 150 lbs, brown hair, green eyes and is suspected to be involved in this recent homicide that investigators believe stemmed from a domestic violence incident. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Pictured below:
Our department is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all, and we urgently request the community’s full support in bringing this individual to justice. We ask anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Broadt to come forward immediately.
