Off camera, witnesses said Tan DaGod, who was scheduled to appear at the grand opening of Glamor Beauty Supply in Oakland, collapsed outside the gate on the sidewalk and a gunman took off running.

An up-and-coming Oakland rapper was shot and killed outside the grand opening of a beauty supply store. Police are still searching for the suspect.

Tan DaGod, who had amassed 20,000 followers on Instagram and was launching a career as a rap artist, had agreed to appear at the grand opening of Glamor Beauty Supply on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland on Saturday.

She sat on a gold throne against a purple and pink floral backdrop, posting photos and comments for her followers throughout the afternoon. However, at 5 p.m., a shooter arrived at the store.

Witnesses reported hearing an altercation outside followed by gunshots. They described Tan DaGod collapsing on the sidewalk outside the store’s gate while the gunman fled the scene. Across the street, bullet holes and shattered glass were visible. Some witnesses took cover inside an adjacent donut shop until it was safe to come out. Paramedics arrived and transported Tan DaGod to the hospital, where she later died, according to Oakland police.

Police also reported that a second gunshot victim arrived at a local emergency room and was in stable condition. Authorities are asking for the public’s help with any videos or photos that could aid their investigation as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
