The Placer County Sheriff's Office reports that the suspect is dead from a gunshot wound.
A man is dead and a deputy was injured in a shooting in Colfax.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said around 11 p.m. deputies were patrolling near the 500 block of South Auburn Street when they found a van in a McDonald’s parking lot. The van matched the description of one involved in a burglary in the area the day before. Deputies contacted a man in his 30s who was in the van.
