Riverside County Sheriff Releases Video of Deputy Shooting Ramiro Tapia Gonzales

Sheriff says that Suspect Ramiro Tapia Gonzales was injured by the shots but not killed.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has released body-worn camera video of a deputy shooting Suspect Ramiro Tapia Gonzales in La Quinta.

Body cam footage captures the suspect, identified as Ramiro Tapia Gonzales, walking with a bike and approaching a deputy. The deputy orders Gonzales to put the knife down.

Gonzales sets the bike down and points at something out of view.

The deputy repeats the command for Gonzales to drop the knife. Gonzales then allegedly pulls a knife out of his pocket and is subsequently shot by the deputy.

Gonzales was booked into custody shortly after the shooting, according to jail records. He was released on $25,000 bail on April 14.

There is no word on whether he was criminally charged in the incident.
